L.A. Road Concerts Mulholland Dérive:
Local L.A. music group The Lone Stars
take the nightclub experience to a new level
Sunday, December 9, 2012 at San Vicente Mountain Park, 17500 Mulholland Drive, Los Angeles, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Local Los Angeles music group The Lone Stars (Mr. Ocañas & Shug) to install a site-specific, pop-up nightclub, “Club Dirty West,” on Mullholand Drive as part of this year’s L.A. Road Concerts curated by artist Stephen van Dyck. For one day, artists will perform works, display installations, facilitate carpool happenings, host spontaneous readings, and make music in unexpected spaces, such as this pop-up Club Dirty West nightclub experience by The Lone Stars from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Audiences are invited to walk-up into this street nightclub performance art piece and experience live DJ music, dancing, food, drinks and mingle with other club goers. Access to the location is available by car, bus, bicycle or walking. Mr. Ocañas & Shug from The Lone Stars will also present a live performance of songs off their debut EP “Dirty West: EC to EP 1 (feat. Mr. Ocañas & Shug)” along with special guest music group SkyCandi and DJ President Washington. Pop-up Club Dirty West seeks to further explore the Los Angeles Road Concerts’ mission to investigate the possibilities of L.A.'s lengthy streets as sites for artistic exploration while using the street itself as a cross-section to observe the city's diversity of landscapes and people, how the Los Angeles metropolis grew, and the massive in-between and negative spaces it left behind as it expanded.
